U-20 Women's World Cup: Black Princesses ready to bounce back against South Korea - Charles Sampson

Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson says his players have put the disappointment of their opening defeat behind them and are determined to respond when they face South Korea at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland.

Ghana's campaign got off to a difficult start after a 3-0 loss to Ecuador in their opening Group stage match, leaving both the players and coaching staff frustrated.

However, Sampson believes the team has recovered mentally from the setback and is fully focused on the challenge ahead.

"I can say confidently that the girls have overcome the last game shock and the emotions in it, so now it looks like we are ready to go," he said.

The coach admitted the defeat to Ecuador was unusual, with several aspects of Ghana's game failing to function as expected.

"I will say the first game actually was a weird game, weird in many senses, as what we normally do at ease did not work, and it can also be so many factors, difficult to pinpoint," Sampson added.

Despite the disappointing result, he remains confident in the character of his squad and their ability to respond positively.

"But as a team and the sort of character we have in here, this is a challenge we will handle well.

"The girls were all down, just like myself, in the first game. We have shaken it off now; we are ready to go and redeem ourselves."

The Black Princesses will be seeking their first points of the tournament when they take on South Korea, knowing a positive result could revive their hopes of progressing from the group stage.
