Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has backed Asante Kotoko to win the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League title, putting $5,000 on his prediction.
The former Bayern Munich and AS Roma centre-back made the bold claim while speaking to football fans after a 'Monday Stars' game in Accra.
Asked which team he expects to be crowned champions, Kuffour confidently replied: “Asante Kotoko will win the league.”
Some fans challenged the former Ghana international to put money behind his prediction, initially proposing a GHS 10,000 bet.
Kuffour, however, raised the stakes.
“Let's make it $5,000. I guarantee you Kotoko will win the league,” he said.
The UEFA Champions League winner's confidence comes despite Kotoko dropping points on the opening weekend of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by Ghana Premier League debutants Debibi United at the Golden City Park in Berekum.
Kotoko will be looking for their first victory of the campaign when they host Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in their Matchday 2 fixture.
Kuffour, who also played for King Faisal during his career in Ghana, remains one of the country's most decorated footballers after winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2001.
