Ghana's Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has urged the Black Princesses to play with confidence and avoid being intimidated as they prepare for their opening match at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland.
Adams delivered the message during a visit to the team's training camp, where he congratulated the squad on securing Ghana's eighth consecutive qualification for the tournament and pledged the government's continued support.
He told the players that President John Dramani Mahama was closely following their campaign and had sent his encouragement ahead of their opening Group match against Ecuador.
"I bring you greetings from the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, who is very aware of the task ahead of you," Adams said.
He described the Black Princesses as one of Ghana's most consistent national teams on the global stage and challenged them to make history by reaching the final.
"Don't be intimidated by any opponent. They don't play any better football than you," he said.
The minister also urged the players to trust the instructions of their technical team and embrace their "Stronger Together" slogan by prioritising teamwork over individual performances.
Ghana begins their World Cup campaign against Ecuador on 6 September before facing the Republic of Korea and France in their remaining Group fixtures.
The Black Princesses are seeking to advance beyond the group stage for the first time in their eight appearances at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
