Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have received a major boost ahead of their return to continental football after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the Tarkwa and Aboso (TnA) Stadium to host their preliminary round matches in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
The Yellow and Mauves announced on Thursday, July 30, that CAF has granted the stadium Category 2 certification following a comprehensive inspection by the continental football governing body.
In a statement released on the club's official social media platforms, Medeama confirmed that the inspection found the venue to be compliant with CAF's required standards.
"Medeama SC is pleased to announce that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted Category 2 approval to TnA Stadium following a comprehensive inspection conducted by CAF experts," the statement said.

The Category 2 approval allows the Tarkwa-based club to stage CAF Youth and Women's National Team qualifying matches, as well as Preliminary Round fixtures in CAF inter-club competitions.
The certification is a significant milestone for Medeama, who had previously been forced to play continental home matches away from Tarkwa due to stadium licensing requirements. The approval means the club can now enjoy the backing of their home supporters as they begin another CAF Champions League campaign.
CAF, however, noted that each fixture will still be subject to final confirmation in line with its competition regulations.
Medeama secured qualification for Africa's premier club competition after winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title, earning the right to represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
The Mauve and Yellow outfit will learn their preliminary round opponents during the CAF Champions League draw in August 2026. The first-leg matches of the opening preliminary round are scheduled to be played between September 4 and 6, 2026.
With the TnA Stadium now meeting CAF's required standards, Medeama will be hoping to make full use of their home advantage as they seek another memorable run on the continental stage.
