Respect Jordan Ayew for his services to Black Stars - Gold Stars CEO tells Ghanaians

Bibiani Gold Stars Chief Executive Officer, Akwasi Adu, has defended Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew amid growing criticism following Ghana's campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the veteran forward deserves respect for his commitment to the national team.

Ayew has faced widespread criticism over his performances at the tournament in North America, where he captained Ghana to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

The experienced forward featured in all four of Ghana's matches but struggled to win over sections of the football-loving public, with some supporters calling for his omission from future Black Stars squads.

Despite the backlash, Akwasi Adu believes Ayew's years of dedicated service to the country should not be overlooked.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the Bibiani Gold Stars CEO said the former Leicester City, Swansea City and Olympique Marseille attacker has earned the admiration and gratitude of Ghanaians.

"Jordan Ayew has served Ghana with dedication and distinction. If he chooses to leave the national team, he deserves our respect and gratitude," he said.

Ghana's World Cup journey came to an end in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.

With the tournament now concluded, the Black Stars will turn their attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in September.

Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Gambia, Ivory Coast and Somalia as they aim to secure a place at the continental showpiece.
