Leicester City announce Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's transfer to Ipswich Town

Leicester City have confirmed that Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is set to join Ipswich Town after the two clubs reached an agreement over his transfer, pending league and international clearance.

The transfer brings an end to the 22-year-old winger's successful three-year spell at the King Power Stadium, during which he established himself as one of the club's key attacking players.

Issahaku first arrived at Leicester on a season-long loan from Sporting CP ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. His impressive performances convinced the Foxes to make the deal permanent the following summer after helping the club secure the Sky Bet Championship title and earn promotion.

During his time with Leicester, the Black Stars winger made 100 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals while contributing significantly to the club's success.

In a statement announcing his departure, Leicester City expressed their gratitude to the Ghanaian.

"We can confirm that an agreement has been reached between Leicester City and Ipswich Town for the sale of Abdul Fatawu for an undisclosed fee, subject to league and international approval.

"We would like to thank Abdul for his efforts over the last three seasons as he departs with the very best wishes of everyone at Leicester City."

Issahaku now begins a new chapter with Ipswich Town, where he is expected to play an important role as the club prepares for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

On the international stage, the winger was part of Ghana's squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring prominently as the Black Stars reached the Round of 32 before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.
