Tariq Lamptey completes move to Queens Park Rangers after injury setback at Fiorentina

Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has completed a move to English Championship club Queens Park Rangers ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 25-year-old right-back returns to English football after an injury-hit spell with Italian side Fiorentina, where he spent much of last season on the sidelines.

Lamptey's campaign was cut short by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, prompting Fiorentina to part ways with the defender at the end of the season. He had joined the Serie A outfit from Brighton & Hove Albion on a three-year contract just a year earlier.

Despite the setback, the Ghanaian has wasted little time in securing a new club, with QPR bringing him in as they strengthen their squad for the upcoming Championship campaign.

A native of Hillingdon, Lamptey progressed through Chelsea's academy and made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in December 2019 before joining Brighton in January 2020.

During his time with the Seagulls, he established himself as one of the league's most exciting attacking full-backs, making over 120 appearances across all competitions before his move to Italy.

On the international stage, Lamptey has earned 11 caps for Ghana and represented the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The pacey defender will now be hoping to regain full fitness and rediscover the impressive form that earned him widespread recognition during his time in the Premier League as he begins a new chapter at Loftus Road.
