Ghana international Jordan Ayew has officially ended his stay at Leicester City after the club confirmed his departure alongside 10 senior players following the expiration of their contracts.
The announcement comes in the wake of Leicester City's relegation, prompting a significant squad reshuffle ahead of the new campaign.
Ayew headlines a list of departing players that includes club captain Ricardo Pereira, Patson Daka, Jamaal Lascelles and Wanya Marçal, as the Foxes begin rebuilding for the future.
The 34-year-old forward joined Leicester ahead of the 2025/26 season, bringing experience and attacking versatility to the squad.
Throughout the campaign, Ayew played a prominent role for the club, making 42 appearances and scoring six goals during their Championship season.
His departure brings an end to a brief but notable spell at Leicester, where his leadership and experience proved valuable during a challenging season.
Before arriving at the King Power Stadium, Ayew enjoyed a lengthy six-year stint with Crystal Palace, where he made more than 200 appearances.
His English football journey also included spells with Swansea City and Aston Villa, while his professional career began in France with Olympique de Marseille.
Over the course of his career, Ayew has built an impressive record, featuring in more than 500 club matches and scoring over 100 goals.
His longevity and consistency have cemented his status as one of Ghana’s most experienced and accomplished football exports in Europe.
In a statement announcing the departures, Leicester City thanked the outgoing players for their service and commitment to the club. The Foxes also confirmed that several loan players, including Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa, will return to their parent clubs.
Despite his club departure, Ayew remains central to Ghana’s national team plans. The experienced attacker is expected to captain the Black Stars in their upcoming preparatory match against Wales on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium.
He is also expected to earn a place in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico later this summer.
