Amoafo-Yeboah, Grueter triumph at 3i Africa Summit Invitational Golf Tournament

Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah and Sjoerd Grueter emerged victorious in the ladies’ and men’s main categories respectively as the 2026 3i Africa Summit Invitational Golf Tournament ended successfully at the Achimota Golf Club.

The tournament, staged as the official curtain-raiser for the 3i Africa Summit, attracted over 120 golfers from Ghana and beyond, including financial sector leaders, investors, policymakers, and corporate executives. The event also provided participants with an opportunity to network and build strategic partnerships ahead of the summit.

Before the competition got underway, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, joined the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, alongside officials of the Ghana Golf Association and executives of Achimota Golf Club for the ceremonial tee-off.

In the ladies’ main category, Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah produced an impressive performance over the 18-hole course to claim the top prize with 34 points. Speaking after her triumph, she expressed delight over the achievement, attributing the success to hard work and determination.

Princess Nkansah Boadu finished second, while Emma Bulley secured third place.

The Ladies’ Group B division saw Anita Ohene Mantey take first place, with Akua Tamakloe finishing second and Christine Fuler placing third with 38 points.

The men’s main competition was fiercely contested, as Solomon Oko Allotey and Isaac Aninakwah both recorded 38 points. Aninakwah settled for second position after countback, while Sjoerd Grueter claimed the overall title with the same score.

In the Men’s Group B division, Charles Ofori, Max Ernst Heinrich, and Moses Kanduri emerged winners in their respective categories.

Special awards were also presented to outstanding performers. Helen Appau and Fred Buta won the Ladies’ and Men’s Closest-to-the-Pin awards respectively, while Leticia Amponsah Mensah and Yaw Afriyie claimed the Longest Drive honours. Madam Inshooto and Joe Muchero were recognised with the Visitor Best Performance awards.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Dr. Johnson Asiama commended the success of the tournament and stressed its significance in strengthening professional relationships ahead of the summit.

President of Achimota Golf Club, Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, also expressed appreciation to the organizers for choosing the club as host venue and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to supporting top-level sporting and networking events.

The tournament was organized by Head of State Golf Tournament Inc. with support from the Bank of Ghana, Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems, Global Finance and Technology Network, and the 3i Africa Summit.
