
Mobile telecommunication giant; MTN Ghana and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) are scouting young talented footballers in the region, aiming to enrol them onto the national team.
The Region which is set for an exciting football spectacle as the U-17 soccer tournament reached its climax this weekend, promises exhilarating action and the discovery of young talents
Sponsored by MTN, Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, organised this competition to nurture grassroots football and give young players a platform to showcase their skills.
TOURNAMENT REACHES CLIMAX
The soccer tournament kicks off its final stage on April 5, 2026, at Paa Joe Park where four districts - Afigya Kwabre North, Afigya Kwabre South, Atwima Nwabiagya North, and Kwabre East - will battle it out in semifinals.
Afigya Kwabre North faces Afigya Kwabre South, while Atwima Nwabiagya North takes on Kwabre East.
The main sponsor MTN Ghana has already provided jerseys and otber kids to the teams aiming to boost youth football.
The competition started in September 2025, with 41 districts participating.
The Ashanti Regional Minister says the aim is to unearth and develop football talents, grooming Ghana's next football stars.
Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers for the memorable final on Easter Sunday.
