AJ Auxerre full-back Marvin Senaya has expressed his excitement after receiving his first call-up to the Black Stars.
The 25-year-old has been included in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.
Speaking to the club’s media, Senaya described the selection as a proud and meaningful moment.
"I feel a lot of pride and joy, and I hope there will be more call-ups [from Ghana]," Seneya told the club's media.
"I was surprised, but I was also very proud because all the work I have put in has not been in vain. I am happy and very honoured," he added.
Senaya’s situation is complicated by his simultaneous inclusion in Togo’s squad for friendlies against Guinea and Niger.
Togo coach Patrice Neveu has suggested the player had previously expressed interest in representing Togo, hinting at a prior verbal commitment.
The dual call-ups place Senaya at the centre of an international tug-of-war, with both nations eager to secure his services.
For Ghana, head coach Otto Addo sees his addition as part of a plan to strengthen the right-back position, which has struggled with consistency in recent years.
