The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) hockey teams are set to make a mark in the Africa Cup for Club Championship in Harare, Zimbabwe, with sports head, Mr. Ebenezer Frimpong leading the charge.
The Africa Cup for Club Championship has been scheduled from 24th January to 31st February, 2026 in Harare.
Speaking from the team's hotel in Zimbabwe, Mr. Frimpong emphasised the team’s determination to fly the nation flag high.
"The journey to another Africa success starts tomorrow... As the Head of GRA sports unit, we owe the Authority and Ghana success in this continental competition," Frimpong said.
As a former national hockey team coach (2015-2023), Frimpong is confident in his team's preparedness. He also indicated measures outlined to ensure the teams’ success.
"Everything looks good at the moment. We don't have any major injuries in camp," he noted, adding that the coaches and technical teams undergone coaching education, leadership, and psychological training.
“The teams have covered physical, technical, tactical, psychological, and theoretical training, focusing on intensity, volume, and stress management,” he disclosed.
Frimpong credited the GRA leadership, right from the Commissioner General and Top Management, for their support, saying, "The success story of GRA hockey teams and the sports unit ... will be incomplete without the mention of the leadership's immense support and commitment to using sports as a tool for national development."
With a Master's in Sports Management and pursuing a PhD, and also served as a member of the Africa Hockey Federation, Athletes Committee and Umpires Committee, Ebenezer Frimpong is leveraging his expertise to guide the teams.
"My rich experience and knowledge in sports will be brought to the table. The teams have prepared through general, specific, and pre-competition phases, with focus on nutrition and sports performance. They are ready to take on the challenge and make Ghana proud,” he said, aiming for a successful tournament.
