Daniel Kofi Kyereh returns to Freiburg training after years of recovery

Ghana midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh has returned to training with Bundesliga side SC Freiburg after more than two years out following a serious knee injury.

Kyereh has been sidelined since the 2022/23 season after tearing his cruciate ligament, a setback that kept him off the pitch for both club and country.

His comeback was further delayed by multiple relapses, extending his time away from competitive football.

The 28-year-old’s return to training represents a major step in his rehabilitation and offers a welcome boost for Freiburg as they look to reinforce their squad for the remainder of the season.

Since joining Freiburg from FC St. Pauli, Kyereh has managed just 18 appearances due to a long-term injury.

His recovery is also positive news for Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, with Black Stars coach Otto Addo expected to keep a close eye on Kyereh as he aims to regain full match fitness.
