2026 World Cup Qualifiers: It is time for Black Stars to beat Comoros - Kofi Adams

Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has called on the Black Stars to seek redemption when they face Comoros in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Ghana, already on the brink of qualification, will look to settle old scores against the island nation after suffering two painful defeats, first at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and again in the early stages of the current qualifying campaign in Moroni.

Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Mr Adams, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency, urged the team to combine aggression with discipline.

"On Sunday, it is a revenge against Comoros. We have lost to them twice, and that was during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the second game of the qualifiers in Moroni, and so we need to win on Sunday," he told Adom FM.

"But then also, we have to tread cautiously against Comoros not to think that we have goal advantage over the teams, but the point is that we must get revenge against them."

The Sports Minister also appealed to Ghanaians to fill the Accra Sports Stadium and rally behind the national team as they aim to secure their place at next year’s World Cup.

"I urge Ghanaians to come to the Accra Sports Stadium in their numbers to support the team," he added.

Kickoff for the decisive match is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
