The Bechem United FC at the weekend beat the Dormaa-Ahenkro-based Aduana FC on 3-1 aggregate to win the maiden Sompa FM’s ‘Invitational Cup’ soccer tournament in the finals.
According to the management of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM, the derby was organised to adequately prepare the clubs for the next premiership season and to build and strengthen cordial relations with the players and the various technical teams.
Other premiership clubs which featured in the three-day tournament were the Berekum Chelsea FC, Karela United FC, Young Apostles FC and Mighty Royals FC.
The euphoria at the Sunyani Coronation Park was electrifying, as the clubs exhibited their footballing prowess to the admiration of the spectators.
In an interview with the media, Mr Yaw Aboagye Boadi, the General Management of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM commended the clubs for their comportment and the level of professionalism.
He said the tournament had come to stay and would be held annually, and called on stakeholders to support it, urging more collaboration.
Some of the spectators also described the tournament as entertaining, and commended the organisers and the clubs for their brilliant performances.
Mr Emmanuel Boateng, one of the spectators, urged the FM station to sustain the tournament, noting that it would strengthen the prevailing peace in the Bono Region and prepare the clubs well for the premiership.
Another spectator, Mr James Apraku urged the management of the FM station to continue with their good work in informing, educating and entertaining their audience.
