Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has praised Andre Ayew for his recent performances in the French Ligue 1.

The 35-year-old has been a key player for Le Havre in the ongoing season and was on the scoresheet over the weekend as they fought back to beat RC Lens.

Ayew has so far made 17 appearances for the side and has scored four goals with an assist.

With the Black Stars set to regroup for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Madagascar later this month, Acheampong has backed the U-20 World Cup winner, saying he has always been committed to the senior national team despite his recent absence.

"Andre Ayew is one of the Black Stars' most committed players. As long as he is playing competitive football, his teammates in his team in France, some of them play for their national teams," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

"So if he is in the right frame of mind and playing top-level football in France, and the coach feels that he needs him, why not? He has always showed commitment whenever he is given the opportunity to play for the Black Stars," he added.

Ghana, who sit 2nd in Group I with nine points, will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT before heading to Morocco for a showdown with Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
