Hearts of Oak laboured to a narrow 1-0 victory against Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League on Friday night.
The Phobians hosted the Week 19 clash of the 2024/25 league campaign at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The hosts went into the game seeking revenge for the 2-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in the first round of the Ghana Premier League season.
Despite a spirited effort in the first half which saw Hearts of Oak hitting the post, the team could not find the back of the net and had to settle for a draw at halftime.
However, the team managed a breakthrough in the second half when a penalty kick was awarded to the team in the 50th minute.
Clinical forward Mawuli Wayo accepted the responsibility from 12 yards and sent the Heart of Lions goalkeeper the wrong way to give Hearts of Oak the lead.
Although both teams played well and created many chances after the goal, neither side could find the back of the net as the Phobians held on to earn a 1-0 victory to earn all three points.
The victory has moved Hearts of Oak temporarily into fourth place while Lions stay in third.
