The Black Sharks face a crucial match against Tanzania in the 2024 African Beach Soccer Championship, a game they must win to avoid returning home without a victory.
In their previous match, the Black Sharks fell 5-2 to Morocco in Group A on Monday during the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations held in Hurghada, Egypt. Morocco, seeking their first-ever final and title after securing bronze in 2021 and 2022, continued their strong performance with a convincing win over Ghana.
Ghana's tournament began on a sour note with a 6-3 defeat to the host nation, Egypt, in their opening game on Saturday. This latest loss leaves the Black Sharks at the bottom of Group A.
Morocco had previously edged past Tanzania with a close 4-3 victory in their opening match, setting the stage for their current success.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the chairman of Ghana Beach Soccer, acknowledged the team's lack of experience but emphasized the need to win their final match to restore the nation’s reputation. He also took responsibility for the team's disappointing performance and called for increased support for beach soccer in Ghana.
