Gold Stars demonstrated remarkable resilience on Wednesday afternoon as they fought back to secure a 1-1 draw against FC Samartex in their outstanding Week 2 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The much-anticipated clash at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena saw FC Samartex, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, dominate the early stages of the game. Their efforts were rewarded in the 28th minute when forward Emmanuel Mammah broke the deadlock with a fine strike, giving the home side a deserved lead.
Despite trailing at halftime, Gold Stars regrouped and showed determination in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 76th minute when they finally found the equalizer, levelling the score through a well-executed attack.
Both teams pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but the match ended in a stalemate, with neither side able to add to their tally.
The 1-1 draw pushes FC Samartex up to 6th place on the league table, while Gold Stars’ resilient performance has earned them 3rd place, keeping them within striking distance of the top spots as the season progresses.
Both teams will look to build on this result in their next fixtures as they aim to climb higher in the competitive Ghana Premier League.
