Asante Kotoko has secured an important victory, defeating Nsoatreman FC 1-0 in their outstanding match, moving them up to second place in the Ghana Premier League standings.
The Porcupine Warriors took to the field at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to complete their rescheduled fixture from Round 2 of the 2024/25 league season.
The match had initially been postponed due to Nsoatreman FC’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In what was a tightly contested encounter, both teams created numerous scoring opportunities but failed to convert in the first half. However, Asante Kotoko's persistence paid off just two minutes into the second half when Elvis Kyei Baffour found the back of the net with a well-timed strike in the 47th minute.
His goal turned out to be the decider as Kotoko held on to secure all three points.
The victory lifts Asante Kotoko to second place in the standings with 8 points, trailing Medeama Sporting Club by just a single point. This win also boosts their confidence ahead of their upcoming Week 5 clash against Accra Lions.
Kotoko will be looking to build on this momentum as they aim to close the gap and challenge for the top spot in the coming weeks.
