Ghana international, Thomas Partey put on a fantastic performance for Arsenal on Sunday evening as the team defeated Olympique Lyon 2-0 in the Emirates Cup.
The Black Stars midfield maestro started for his team in their final pre-season showdown ahead of the start of the 2024/25 campaign next season.
In a game played at the Emirates Stadium, Thomas Partey operated from the heart of Arsenal’s midfield. He starred with a top performance that saw him protect his team’s defence and add to the quality of their attack.
Thanks to goals from William Saliba and Gabriel, both equalisers assisted by Declan Rice, Arsenal cruised to an emphatic 2-0 victory at full-time.
Courtesy of the win, Arsenal are champions of the 2024 Emirates Cup, a feat that gives the Gunners a big boost heading into the new football season.
In the encounter against Olympique Lyon today, Thomas Partey lasted 77 minutes before Jorginho replaced him.
Having faced several injury setbacks in the multiple seasons he has spent at Arsenal, fans are praying for the Ghana midfielder to have an injury-free campaign in the 2024/25 season.
For the Black Stars, the form of Thomas Partey will be key in September when Ghana takes on Angola and Niger in the first round of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
