The National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed that Baba Yara Stadium will be ready for Ghana's opening match against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.
The Black Stars are set to face the Palancas Negras on September 5, as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday.
Despite concerns about the pitch's condition after hosting a recent five-day 'Kumuyi' Church program, Ashanti Regional Director of NSA, Kwame Baa, has assured fans that the pitch will be prepared for the highly anticipated match.
"At the end of the day, we will come back to say that yes, prudently, we have managed the little resources from the Kumuyi program," he told Luv FM.
"We have been able to cater for our water bills, electricity and all manner of people working day in and day out to ensure your dear Baba Yara Stadium is at a point where we can all be very proud of," he added.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT. Following this game, Ghana will travel to play Niger in their second Group F match on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
