Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu has conveyed his disappointment following the early exit of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
Last week, Salisu rejoined his AS Monaco teammates in France and played a pivotal role in their game against Marseille, where the Ligue 1 giants drew with their rivals.
Despite the challenging AFCON debut, Salisu has shifted his focus to club football.
Expressing his disappointment with Ghana's performance in the AFCON, he stated, "I was obviously disappointed by the premature elimination in the Africa Cup of Nations." Monaco is now gearing up to face Andre Ayew's Le Havre in Ligue 1.
Salisu emphasized his commitment to AS Monaco's objectives, saying, "But now I am focused on AS Monaco because we have objectives and we want to achieve them. When I returned, the coach asked me if I was fit to play, I said yes and that I was very motivated. I was determined to come back and play quickly."
Ghana concluded the tournament with just two points, securing the 3rd position in Group B, making it back-to-back AFCON group phase exit.
Salisu played in all three games for Ghana during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
