Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has thrown his support behind Andre Ayew's recent statement that the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is a more challenging competition than the FIFA World Cup.
Ayew, currently participating in his eighth AFCON tournament with Ghana, acknowledged the intensity of the continental championship, especially considering his team's two appearances in the final.
"This tournament is even harder than the World Cup. We know that it is the hardest tournament, for me, in the World Cup when it comes to fighting, determination, and energy, so the only way we can do this is by being together and being united," Ayew remarked.
Musa, who played a crucial role in helping Nigeria secure third place in AFCON 2019 and is second only to Asamoah Gyan as Africa's top scorer in the World Cup, voiced his agreement with Ayew's assessment of AFCON versus the World Cup.
"Yes, definitely, I agree with him because in African football it is not all about the beauty of the game; it is more about the hard game and aggression," Musa shared in an interview with Sienu TV.
He continued, "In the World Cup, you have to use technique, but in African football, nobody cares about technique; they just put their best to make it hard."
Musa concluded by emphasizing that the Africa Cup of Nations is undoubtedly one of the toughest tournaments in football, highlighting the emphasis on physicality and determination in the continental competition.
