Ajax have confirmed that Mohammed Kudus missed Tuesday’s training session due to a minor injury.
The Ghana attacker stayed indoors as a precautionary measure, according to the club.
"The training is in full swing. But we miss Mohammed Kudus. He is missing from training today for medical reasons. He stayed inside and was treated there for a minor injury," the club said in a statement.
The news comes amid reports linking Kudus with a potential move to Chelsea this summer with the London club reportedly keen on signing the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.
According to multiple, Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Kudus with the deal expected to cost around £40 million.
Despite the transfer talk, Kudus remains focused on his future and has expressed his desire to leave Ajax after turning down a contract extension offer in April.
Kudus, who has two years remaining on his current Ajax contract, was one of the club’s best players last season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 42 appearances.
The Right to Dream Academy product also shone at the 2022 World Cup, guiding Ghana to their lone victory in Qatar, a 3-2 victory over South Korea.
Kudus scored a brace in a pre-season friendly for Ajax last week, indicating that the upcoming season will be similar to or even better than the previous one.
