Mohammed Salisu has become a prime target for Newcastle United who are set to trigger his £15m release clause.
The 23-year-old has been a keen member of English Premier League side, Southampton making 21 appearances for The Saints this season.
Salisu was also a key member of the Black Stars squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where his exceptional performance seem to have caught the eyes of Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe.
With the Magpies pushing for a Champions League slot this season, they believe the Ghana defender could help bolster their backline should they qualify for Europe’s topmost club competition.
This season Southampton has not performed at their optimal level and with relegation starring at them, Newcastle would be hoping to meet the £15m price tag on the player.
The Ghana international who joined the Saints from Real Valladolid in 2020 has just 18 months left on his contract and could be enticed to leave the club should they suffer relegation
