Former Ghana defender, John Paintsil has called on Ghanaians to support the current Black Stars players.
According to him, the current squad has very good players and will soon win an Africa Cup of Nations trophy for the country.
“The squad we assembled to Qatar is a trophy-winning squad.
“The players did well but we lost our plan and the momentum in the last game against Uruguay.
“Africa Cup of Nations is around the corner. There is no African team that can challenge this current crop of Black Stars players,” John Paintsil told Service Radio in an interview.
John Paintsil added, “They are close to winning a trophy for the Nation.
“The only thing we need to do as Ghanaians are to exercise patience and motivate the players.”
Ghana went to the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the youngest squad among the 32 countries that played at the tournament.
Pitted in Group H, Ghana managed to beat South Korea but lost to Portugal and Uruguay.
The three points were not enough to send the Black Stars to the knockout stage of the World Cup being staged in Qatar.
