Accra, Sept. 21,GNA - Cyclist across the West African sub-region will between October 11 and 17 descend on Ghana to engage in an international competition dubbed, "Tour du Ghana".
The participating countries made up of Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Cote d' Ivoire and Senegal have expressed interest in taking part in the race with the starting point at Togo through to Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.
The race, which is being organised by the Ghana Cycling Association (GCA) will draw support from financial institutions, the French Embassy in Ghana and other corporate bodies such as Wienco Fertiliser company limited, Woodin and Novotel Hotels limited.
Mr Francis Kpesenu, General Secretary of the GCA told the GNA Sports that the association is presently negotiating with the companies in order to come out with the appropriate package for the event.
He however noted that the date for the programme is flexible and might see changes based on the recommendations of their sponsors but he was of the view that the event will be successful this year.
