2021/22 GPL Week 5: Impressive RTU defeat AshGold 2-0 to secure crucial three points

Real Tamale United on Sunday afternoon displayed impressive form as the team defeated Ashanti Gold SC 2-0 in the Ghana Premier League to secure three crucial points.

The league’s newcomers have had a fairly good start to the 2021/2022 campaign but still needed to do more after losing 5-1 to Aduana Stars last weekend.

Today at the Tamale Sports Stadium, RTU set up strong at home keen on recording a win to return to winning ways.

On the back of a bright start to today’s contest, RTU had the lead after 38 minutes of the first half when Ismael Nketiah scored with a good effort.

With the lead at halftime, the home team resumed the second half and pushed to kill the game.

Fortunately for the side, they found the back of the net through Nurideen Mohammed Yussif in the 59^th minute.

With that goal serving as the insurance goal, RTU held on to beat RTU 2-0 at the end of the exciting contest in Tamale.

With three points in the bag, RTU have climbed to 9^th on the league table and with the same points [7] as Ashanti Gold SC who occupy the 8^th position.
