Bechem United on Sunday afternoon defeated Asante Kotoko 2-1 at home to deny the Porcupine Warriors any chance of winning the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
The visitors today hoped to beat the home side to stay in the race for the league title knowing that Hearts of Oak must drop points in the game against Liberty Professionals in Accra.
Unfortunately for Asante Kotoko, the team could not get the needed results in Bechem with Hearts of Oak also earning a crucial result in their game.
On the matchday, Bechem United cruised to a vital 2-1 win courtesy of a brace from Steven Owusu.
Although the Porcupine Warriors netted a consolation through Solomon Sarfo Taylor, it was not enough as they were devoured by the Hunters at the end of the 90 minutes.
With Hearts of Oak drawing 1-1 against Liberty Professionals in Accra, the Phobians are now winners of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League title with one match left to play.
The results from the final matches of the season will have no bearing on the Phobians position on the league table.
