Talented youngster, Richmond Antwi scored twice on Thursday afternoon to propel Legon Cities FC to brush aside Uncle T United in the Round 64 of the MTN FA Cup competition.
The Royals today played as a host to the Division One League opponent at the Accra Sports Stadium hoping to capitalize on their form in the Premier League to enjoy triumph.
Despite Coach Bashir Hayford’s decision to rest some players, he still fielded a strong squad that overpowered Uncle T United.
After enjoying the lion’s share of possession in most parts of the first half, a Richmond Antwi equalizer in the 40th minute shot Legon Cities FC into the lead.
Unfortunately, they could not hold on and conceded through a penalty converted by George Tei that drew level for the visitors three minutes later.
In the tough contest that ensued in the second half, Richmond Antwi emerged as the hero when he equalized to complete his brace with a stunning finish in the 88th minute to seal a 2-1 win for his team.
Courtesy of the win, Legon Cities FC are through to the Round 32 stage of this season’s MTN FA Cup competition.
