Ghanaian giant, Medeama SC has been held to a 1-1 draw by Great Olympics in their opening match of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
The Tarkwa-based club enjoyed a good spell in the truncated 2019/2020 campaign and have now been touted as one of the favourites to win this season’s title.
Kicking off the new campaign with a clash against Great Olympic, Medeama SC has shockingly dropped points.
The team this afternoon took the lead through a thumping header from Ali Ouattara Issouf in the 36th minute.
Although the side could have scored more, they wasted a number of chances and went into the break with a narrow lead.
In a second half where Great Olympics asked a lot of questions from the host team, the capital-based club saw their efforts paying off in the 73rd minute when Michael Yeboah scored with a fine effort.
Though both teams pushed on for a second goal to earn all 3 points, they all failed and have been forced to settle for a point at the end of the 90 minutes.
