Nollywood actress and producer Wumi Toriola has issued a heartfelt appeal to schools and parents to prioritise the safety and well-being of children amid the current intense heat wave.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the Yoruba actress urged school authorities to take extra precautions to protect students during this period.
Addressing parents, Toriola advised them to increase their children's water bottles, add extra water, and remind them to hydrate properly.
She also stressed the importance of dressing the children in light clothing.
She wrote:
"AS A CONCERNED MOTHER, I APPEAL TO OUR SCHOOLS TO TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS DURING THIS PERIOD OF INTENSE HEAT."
"AND PARENTS, INCREASE THEIR WATER BOTTLES, ADD EXTRA WATER, REMIND THEM TO HYDRATE WELL AND DRESS LIGHT."
"JUST A REMINDER AS WE ENTER A NEW WEEK."
Wumi Toriola's advice stems from the extreme heat plaguing several regions in Nigeria.
According to reports, the heat wave and rising temperatures is driven by a powerful "Super El Niño" weather pattern and the onset of the dry season.
