Veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu has shared a profound reflection on the realities of life, reminding people to appreciate what they have rather than longing for what they lack.
In a video message shared on his Instagram page, the actor highlighted the constant paradoxes of human desires.
Agu noted that while the poor want money, the rich want peace. He pointed out that the young want to grow up, the old wish to be young again, the married long for freedom, and the single long for love.
He emphasized that everyone is chasing something they do not have, often overlooking their current blessings.
Sounding a note of warning against the danger of comparing one's life to others, Agu noted that people only see outward appearances while remaining blind to private struggles.
He further by advised his audience to be grateful for their own journey, stressing that someone might have the money they desire but lack the peace they enjoy.
He wrote:
"The poor want money, while the rich want peace, the young want to grow up, while the old wish they could be young again, Those who have little want more, while those who have much sometimes wish they needed less. The married long for freedom, while the single long for love. The unknown want fame, while the famous longs for privacy. The unemployed wants to work, while the employed wish they have fewer responsibilities.
The broken wants to heal While those who are hurting long for happiness The truth is you can't have it all Be happy with what you have and never take anything Do not become so focused on what you lack That you forget to appreciate what you already possess Be grateful and never compare your life to someone else You cannot judge the quality of your life By looking at someone else's position You see their outward appearance, but you may not know their private struggle. The grass is always greener on the other side, until you discover what it takes to keep it green. Someone may have the money you desire, but lack the peace you enjoy. A healthy person has a thousand wishes, but a sick person has only one. Learn to appreciate your own journey. Bye."
