Nollywood stars and prominent figures gathered at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, on Friday to pay their final respects to late Nollywood icon Olu Jacobs.

The funeral service drew family members, friends, colleagues, and top government officials who came to honour the legendary actor.

Among those present were Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Singer Dare Art Alade also attended and performed "Pray for Me," a song he worked on with Jacobs and Joke Silva.

Honouring his father's legacy, Olugbenga Jacobs, presented his father's biography during the service.

Jacobs was buried at a private cemetery in Lagos on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The funeral followed a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island. Nollywood stars, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Funke Akindele, Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Hilda Dokubo, Rita Dominic, and Segun Arinze, shared memories of Jacobs' influence on their careers and the movie industry.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that legendary actor Olu Jacobs, widely regarded as one of the godfathers of Nollywood, died at the age of 84.

His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the sad news on Instagram, on Wednesday, September 16, stating that the family announced his passing with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought.

The statement described him as a dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, referring to him as "The Lion of Lufodo." It confirmed that he lived from July 11, 1942, to September 16, 2026, and urged bloggers and social media influencers to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time
