Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has called on Nigerians to take a more active role in holding leaders accountable while also contributing solutions to the nation's challenges.
The 65-year old actor made the call while speaking at the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos, on Tuesday.
RMD noted that although the country has its share of problems, citizens must move beyond criticism and propose practical solutions.
He emphasised that Nigerians do not hold leadership accountable enough, urging them to remember that they are ambassadors, not just for themselves, their parents, or their schools, but ultimately for their country.
Acknowledging the developing state of the country, he appealed for cooperation and a sense of responsibility from both the leaders and citizens to achieve the greater good.
He said:
"There are problems, but we need to fix them. Don't stand and just criticise and propose no solution."
"We don't hold leadership accountable enough."
"Just remember who you are. You are an ambassador, not just for yourself, your parents or your school, but ultimately for your country."
