"We Are On Good Terms"  – Kamo State Addresses Funke Akindele's Absence At 'StarLomo Premiere'

Popular Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has addressed critics of his boss and close colleague Funke Akindele's absence at the premiere of his upcoming cinema movie, 'StarLomo'.

Taking to the popular microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), the skitmaker clarified that there is no rift between them and urged the public to stop speculating about their personal relationship.

Kamo State explained that Akindele missed the premiere simply because she was not in the country, adding that there was nothing more to it. He stated that they have spoken about it, and she will support the film. He appealed to the public to focus on the film rather than speculate about their relationship.

He wrote:

"I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we're on good terms."

"She missed my premiere simply because she wasn't in the country and nothing more to it, so please don't assume otherwise."

"We've spoken about it, and she's going to support this film. I'd appreciate it if our personal relationship isn't speculated on. Let's keep our focus on the film."

His statement comes after the premiere of 'StarLomo', which was held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Lekki, Lagos, ahead of its nationwide release on Friday, September 25, 2026. The event was attended by several Nollywood stars, including Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Iyabo Ojo, KieKie, Timini Egbuson, and Biola Bayo, among others, with Funke Akindele's notably absent, leading to online drama by netizens.

Recall that on Monday, Kamo State had earlier expressed gratitude following the successful premiere, thanking God and everyone who attended, while also giving a shoutout to his partners, cast, and crew. His latest statement, however, addresses the controversy surrounding Akindele's absence, as the two have been known to share a close bond, with their reduced public appearances this year sparking speculation.

Kamo State makes his cinema production debut with 'StarLomo', while Kayode Kasum directs the movie.
