Nigerian Politics Corrupts The Very Best Of Us – Mr Macaroni

Nigerian content creator, actor, and activist Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has explained why he has no interest in venturing into politics.

In a viral video, he expressed frustration with the Nigerian political space, noting that it appears to corrupt even the most principled individuals.

Mr Macaroni, while commenting on the state of things in the country, expressed his displeasure at how Nigerians can turn against the individual speaking up for them.

He said watching the political landscape has made him reluctant to pursue a political career, adding that men he once looked up to and respected entered politics and ruined their legacies.

He also criticised Nigerians for quickly moving on from economic problems after initially expressing outrage, citing the reaction to fuel prices as an example.

According to him, Nigerians take pride in saying that if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive anywhere, adding that it is not something to brag about.

He said;
"I'm so happy about how things have been, and you keep talking, and it seems like you're the troublesome person. The same Nigerians that you speak for turn against you."

"I look at Nigeria, and I don't think I want to get into the political space because it seems like the political space in Nigeria corrupts the very best of us."

"Men that you have looked up to and you have respected, they got into politics and ruined their legacy. I look at the political space in Nigeria, and I'm not thrilled."

"Even we, the people, the average Nigerian, move on. Okay, look at fuel price now, the wahala wey everybody dey shout. Everybody will just talk, one, two days, next thing, e don go, we don move on."

"Nigerians take pride in telling you, ah, if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive anywhere. It's not something to brag about."

The Nigerian Voice recalls that Mr Macaroni has, on several occasions, called out the government over the poor welfare of the people.

He has consistently clamoured for change, fighting against oppression and advocating for a better Nigeria.
