Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has responded to the N1 billion defamation lawsuit filed against her by Judy Austin, stating that she does not recognize the name "Mrs. Judith Yul-Edochie."
In a post on her Instagram page, Rita expressed confusion over the legal action, insisting that the only Mrs. Yul-Edochie she knows is May Edochie, Yul's first wife.
Rita described the attempt to be addressed as "Mrs. Judith Yul-Edochie" as provocative and a slap on the face of the Edochie family. She demanded that Judy present her marriage certificate to confirm the name before she would give any further response.
She wrote:
"Received a message from one Mrs Judith Yul Edochie and up till now I am still wondering and utterly confused about who the bearer of that name is because I don't know anyone by that name."
"As a matter of fact, the only Mrs Yul Edochie that I know is Queen May Yul Edochie. Wanting to be addressed by that name is very provocative right now which I take as a terrible slap on the face of the Edochies."
"Anyway, since you are insistent on being addressed that way, I would like you to present your marriage certificate highlighting the exact conformation of that weird name 'Mrs Judith Yul Edochie' only then will I give further response to this very message."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Judy shared the image of her lawsuit against Rita Edochie on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
The wife of Yul Edochie had sued Rita over alleged defamatory statements made by the actress against her, in addition to ordering her to retract the statements and tender a public apology.
