The family of late actress Tope Osoba has announced the postponement of her burial ceremony, which was initially scheduled to hold on August 13.

In a statement released to the public, the family explained that the decision was made to allow for further arrangements and necessary conclusions following the recent candlelight and artiste night held in her honour.

The family appealed for understanding, prayers, and continued support from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers. They assured that a new burial date and venue would be communicated officially once all matters have been resolved.

With deep sadness, the family of Tope Osoba wishes to inform friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers that the burial ceremony has been postponed until further notice.

Following the Candlelight/Artist's Night held in honour of Tope, the family has decided to postpone the burial to allow for further arrangements and necessary conclusions.

The family respectfully asks everyone for their understanding, patience, prayers, and continued support during this difficult and sensitive period. The new burial date and venue will be communicated officially by the family once the necessary matters have been resolved.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who came out to honour Tope, as well as all those who have continued to stand by the family with their prayers, love, and support.

Refreshing your memory, Temitope Osoba first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in late 2024 after discovering a lump during a self-examination. Initially, doctors assured her nothing was wrong, attributing the lump to her childbearing age. However, when the lump grew larger, further tests confirmed it was breast cancer.

She underwent her first surgery in November 2024, but doctors recommended a second procedure to remove remaining cancer cells, with the total treatment cost estimated at N12 million.

Her colleague, Foluke Daramola, helped amplify her appeal for financial support, and donations came in to fund the initial procedure. By August 2025, Osoba announced she had overcome the disease, returning to acting and expressing gratitude for the support she received. She had been placed on radiation therapy and was declared cancer-free after follow-up scans showed the cancer had not spread.
