The Member Parliament (MP) for Ashiaman, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, has said the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament need to beef up the security of judges and other law enforcers.
Hon. Norgbey, a member of the Defence and Interior Committee said the Chief Justice, Judges and the Judiciary may be exposed to various dangers in the course of delivering justice and therefore need special protection.
“Safety and security of Judges and lawmakers must to be taken care of since they can be seen as enemies to culprits, criminals and even families of those whom they impose judgment on.
"They need to be protected; elsewhere in the world, these Judges are treated with importance, because their line of work and call is exposed to danger, as they become enemies to criminals and convicts.
“We will champion it for them as the Defence and Interior Committee Chairman’s attention has been drawn to it,” Hon. Norgbey pledged.
Hon. Norgbey said on an Accra-based radio station- Adom Fm in support of the Chief Justice’ statements made at the just-ended Judicial Service week celebration.
