Foodstuffs Prices Hit Upper Trajectory — GNA Survey

Prices of some commodities across some major markets in Accra have recorded uncertainties as the cost of some foodstuffs experienced a reduction during the current week as against the previous weeks.

Other commodities saw a marginal increase prices.

The weekly market survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency in major market centres in Accra over the weekend revealed that while in some places, foodstuffs prices remained unchanged, pegged at the same levels as they were last week, others had increased.

At the Adabraka market; 100 tubers of yam was sold between GH¢800.00 and GH¢1,000.00, while a sack of maize cost GH¢1,000.00, a bowl of beans sold at GH¢19.00, and half cup GH¢10.50.

A sack of cassava sold at GH¢120.00 and a box of tomatoes sold at GH¢450.00.

At the Dansoman market, 100 tubers of yam was sold between GH¢500.00 and GH¢1,000.00 depending on the sizes, a sack of cassava sold between GH¢60.00 and GH¢200.00, depending on the size; and a basket of tomatoes went for GH¢150.00; and a sack of beans cost GH¢150.00.

At the Madina market, the price of 100 tubers of yam was pegged between GH¢1,000.00 and GH¢1,200.00; a box of tomatoes sold at GH¢450.00, while a sack of cassava was sold at GH¢75.00.

A sack of maize was pegged between GH¢230.00 and GH¢250.00, depending on the variety.

At the Teshie market GNA observed that a sack of small size cassava went for GH¢80.00, while a sack of cassava dough went for GH¢200.00, with 100 tubers of yam going for either GH¢800.00 or GH¢1,000.00 depending on the size.

At the Nima market, a sack of Cassava was sold between GH¢70.00 and GH¢100.00 while a big sack of cassava dough was sold at GHC450.00 and a small sack for GH¢150.00 with a sack of corn dough selling at GH¢250.00.

At the same market, the price of 100 tubers of yam sold between GH¢500.00 and GH¢1,000.00 depending on the sizes, while a box of tomatoes went for GH¢350.00 and a sack of beans was between GH¢700.00 and GH¢750.00.

A sack of white maize is pegged at GH¢240.00 and yellow maize sold at GH¢270.00.

At the Tuesday market at Mamprobi, a sack of Cassava cost GH¢150.00, while a box of tomatoes cost GH¢250.00 and a sack of maize went for GH¢250.00; with a sack of beans going for GH¢400.00

At the CMB market, a box of tomatoes was sold at GH¢240.00; and a sack of beans sold at GH¢400.00.

At the Railways market, a box of tomatoes was worth GH¢450.00, while the price of 100 tubers of yam (big size) was pegged between GH¢600.00 and GH¢1,200.00 and the same quantity of small size was sold at GH¢500.00.

A small size sack of Cassava was sold between GH¢200.00 and GH¢300, while a sack of cassava dough was traded between GH¢150.00 and GH¢200.00, with a sack of beans alternating between GH¢380.00 and GH¢700.00, depending on the size of sack and the variety.

At the Tema Station market, GNA observed that a box of tomatoes cost GH¢450.00; the price of 100 tubers of big 'pona' yam cost between GH¢1,000.00 and GH¢1,200.00, while a sack of cassava cost GH¢143.00, with a sack of maize costing GH¢280.00.
