Renowned Lecturer at the University of West London, Dr Da Costa Aboagye has requested any of the Public Universities in Ghana to award the President, H.E. NANA ADDO DANKWA with an Honorary Doctorate of Peace for his role in ensuring successful implementation of the road-map to peace in Dagbon.
Speaking to MynewsGh.com, Dr Aboagye applauded the president’s leadership skills, bravery and commitment towards peace in Dagbon.
He said as H.E Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to be a Special Guest of Honour at the investiture ceremony of Naa Abukari Mahama as the Overlord of Dagbon after his successful selection by Dagbon Kingmakers on the 18 January 2019 in Yendi, the president has shown not only bravery but a true leadership to a peaceful implementation of the road map.
It will be remembered that the fruitful final funeral rites of both Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai and Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani in the Dagbon Chieftaincy in December 2018 and January 2019 separately cemented the selection of the new Yaa Naa.
The progressions fashioned out of the advice of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs as contained in the roadmap document submitted to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on 21 November 2018.
The Committee of Eminent Chiefs was set up by former President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2002 to find a lasting solution to the long-drawn-out Dagbon chieftaincy impugn.
Yo-Naa Abukari Mahama, until his selection was the Paramount Chief of the Savelugu Traditional Area. The new Overlord succeeded his nephew, the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II who died in March 2002.
According to Dr Aboagye, the president’s commitment, bravery and strategic fulfilment of Peace at Dagbon leading to the final Investiture should be commendable and award by any of the public universities.
He, therefore, advised any of the Public Universities in Ghana to take the opportunity to award the president with an honorary Doctorate of Peace to commemorate the role he played in ensuring the implementation of a road-map to peace in Dagbon.
