JOY Foundation fetes children in Tarkwa

The Just Others and You (JOY) Foundation has hosted more than 2000 children at its annual Christmas party in Tarkwa.

JOY, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that supports the less privileged in society gave the children lots to eat, drink and participate in singing, dancing and musical chair competitions.

Nana Kwame Nkrumah Buabeng, popularly known as Nero X in the Ghanaian music industry entertained the children to good music.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the President of the Foundation, Ms Joy Joycelyn Andoh, said its aim was to get street children into school.

She said the Foundation was launched last year and has so far enrolled twenty pupils into school and hoped to increase the number in 2019.

Ms Andoh said any time she drove through the Tarkwa bus terminal and saw many children loitering about during classes, then she thought of their future.

"So if we leave them on the street what happens to the future and it's no fault of theirs they came to this earth" she lamented.

Ms Andoh indicated that "so the little help that we can give to them that is how come l was touched to come out with this foundation to actually take care of the needy, orphans and street children".

She was grateful to individuals and organisations that contributed immensely towards the success of this year's event.

Ms Andoh said she could not demonstrate her compassion for the needy in Tarkwa and its surrounding communities alone and therefore appealed to institutions and philanthropists to come to her aid to raise responsible future leaders to develop the nation.

The General Overseer of Christ Within church, Bishop Dr James Awuah Junior said "through JOY Foundation l have been able to support some pupils, l can say that JOY Foundation is here to help street children in Tarkwa".

He call on Ghanaians to help the Foundation in its quest to put smiles on the faces of street children.
