Atebubu-Amantin Votes Overwhelmingly For Bono East Region
The people of Atebubu-Amantin have voted overwhelmingly for the creation of the proposed Bono East region.
At the close of elections yesterday a total ‘YES’ votes of 46,668 amounting to 99.5% of total votes cast was recorded whiles voter turnout which stood at 46,892 represented 84.5%.
One hundred and fifty-two ‘NO’ votes were recorded while 72 ballots were rejected.
The constituency has a total voter population of 55,495 and have thus surmounted the constitutional barrier of 50% voter turnout and 80% ‘YES’ votes required for creation of the new region.
Observers who included politicians and traditional authorities burst into jubilation and congratulated each other for a good job done after the returning officer Mr. Peter Gyedu announced the results in the wee hours of this morning.
