
Residents of the North East part of the Northern Region in a referendum held on Thursday overwhelmingly endorsed the creation of the North East Region. About 99.67% of the entire population of the area voted YES for the creation of the new region.
In all 205,804 out of 255,424 voters cast their ballots in the referendum.

05,121 of the residents voted YES for the creation of the North East Region while 447 votes NO.
Residents of the Savannah enclave also gave a 99.7% YES vote for the creation of the Savannah Region.
Only 0.3% of the entire population of the Savannah area voted No with an 81.9% voter turnout.
