Cape Coast: Land Guards Invade Abura
24.09.2018 LISTEN

The feud between the Brempong Kodwo Ebiradze Royal Family and the Egyir Ansah Family, both of Cape Coast-Abura, is getting murkier as “land guards” have waded in.

Both families are claiming to be the custodian of Abura Stool Lands and this is fuelling tension and causing fear and panic within Abura.

The “land guards” are allegedly destroying properties, attempting mayhem and threatening lives.

Mounted pillars that show lawful demarcation of ownership of parcels of lands within the area have been uprooted, allegedly by the said “land guards”.

In view of this, the Brempong Kodwo Ebiradze Royal Family, who feels threatened and victimised have sent a strongly worded petition to the Regional Security Coordinator, seeking maximum protection.

In their petition, they alleged that their family head was recently attacked in his house. “There was also physical attack on Ebusapanyin Nana Kotompo III in his own house with wild dogs and five land guards, which occurred on 15th June 2018”.

According to the petitioners, the other party has been announcing that the legitimate chief of Abura, Nana KodwoAddai II has been removed.

This situation, they said, did not only show great disrespect to the chief but it has also created rancour between both parties.

The Brempong Kodwo family categorically stated in the petition that all Abura lands stretching from Pedu are theirs.

“Lands stretching from Cape Coast Siwdu through Pedu, Akotokyir to Kakomdo, as well as boundaries of Nkanfoa belong to Brempong Kodwo Ebiradze Stool Family”. The petitioners stated.

“We are kindly pleading with your good office to ensure that all those with dubious characters in Abura, a peaceful community are conscientiously dealt with”. It said.

Abura is one of the fastest growing communities in the metropolis with over one million people going about their live activities.

The population of Abura keeps increasing as the place is gradually gaining attention because of peace, availability of space and land.

Background
It would be recalled that there was war of words between the two factions recently, where each accused the other of selling lands illegally.

At a press conference, the Egyir Ansahfamily accused the head of Brempong Kodwo family, Nana EgyareKotompo, of illegally selling their lands.

Addressing the press, Mr Kwesi Afful alleged that Mr Kotompo has sold about 800 acres of their lands between 2016 and 2018 and called on the police and the judicial service to investigate the matter.

However, the Brempong Kodwo family also held a counter press conference and refuted all the allegations of the EgyirAnsah family.

In their counter press conference, Mr Agyare Kotompo stated that the Agyir Ansah-Ebiradze family has no lineage to the stool of Abura and its land.

“On record, they cannot show with any documentary evidence that their leader, Agyir Ansah, founded Abura or played any role concerning how Abura came into existence,” he added.

He explained that he secured judgement from the Court of Appeal on the 18th April, 2018, at Cape Coast, which declared him as the legitimate owner of Abura lands.

These accusations and counter accusations by the two feuding factions seem to have taken a new dimension, as attrition of death and live threatening warnings have now taken over.
