KMA Ready To Deal With Encroachers – Kumasi Mayor

Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi has stated that the assembly has been compelled to drastically deal with individuals and organizations who are involving themselves in the encroachment of school lands.

Several reports from the assembly have revealed that a number of schools in the region are facing challenges of encroachment.

The Kumasi Mayor made this declaration while he was donating learning materials to some Public schools in the Ashanti Region. He, however, insisted the situation is alarming but it is not all the schools that are facing that challenge but they are going to face the encroachers head on to put a stop to it.

“It is not all the schools that are suffering that challenge so the few that have made the report through the circuit supervisor, am going to get the list and get a team to visit the schools to find out the extent of the encroachment and those who have done it, and I will bring them to book”, he said.

Mayor Osei Assibey Antwi further emphasized that trespassing on School lands is against the nation's law and they will take the necessary actions against encroachers.

He also took the opportunity of talking to the media to call on the public, especially the schools to report cases of encroachment to the authorities in order for them to take action against the people involved.

“I am also taking this opportunity through your medium to let the public know that it is against the laws of the land to trespass on school lands and anyone who is found is not going to be set free”.

He added that they shouldn’t hesitate at all to bring it to the attention of the director in charge of the Metropolitan area, and once they forward the complaint to him, he will handle it from there.

The KMA boss also went on to assure the public that they will issue a statement next week to that effect and ask all the managers of the various schools to inform them if they any problems especially relating to encroachment.
