Voices In Worship, the dynamic youth choir of Royalhouse Chapel International, presented baby items and toiletries to the baby unit of the Osu Children's Home on May 1.

The presentation formed part of the annual social intervention programme of the choir dubbed 'Baby Project'.

Over the years, the choir, through the initiative, paid the hospital bills of many mothers who could not go home after being delivered of their babies because of their indebtedness to the health facilities.

Handing over the items to the management of the home, Albert Ayittey Nii Tettey, pastor in-charge of Voices In Worship, said the donation was inspired by the founder and Apostle General of Royalhouse Chapel International, Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah and his wife, Rev Mrs Rita Korankye-Ankrah.

“We thank Rev Sam Korankye-Ankrah for his vision and leadership and Mama Rita for sending us here, she is the brain behind what you see today,” he said.

Pastor Tettey expressed the hope that the donation will send the right signals to well-meaning Ghanaians to come and support the orphanage, particularly the baby unit.

He said, “Our visit is to echo it out to the world and we are certain that people will follow it up and come to your aid.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the babies and toddlers, Madam Christina Addo, a representative of the home, commended Royalhouse Chapel and Voices In Worship for their love and support.

“Today, being a holiday, you had things to do but you chose to come here and express your love to these little ones. All that we can say is that God richly bless you in abundance and wherever you got these from, may the lord replenish it,” she said.

Appeal
Taking the choir round the home, Madam Christina hinted that babies, toddlers, teenage to young adults are brought in through the Social Welfare Department in the region, the police and courts.

She said abandoned or neglected children, abused children and children of mentally retarded parents and children who are being trafficked make up the categories of the children at the home.

“Our duty is to ensure that they are safe and appropriate care is given to them some come under-malnourished condition and we have to ensure that medical attention is given to them. If the child is from school going age he or she is enrolled and we give them recreational and social activities as well,” she added.

Madam Christian, however, appealed for the refurbishment of the two playgrounds for the toddlers and children.

“We pray that you will add it on your list for your next visit,” she added.
