Ghanaians rank among the most religious in the world, according to a new survey published by Gallup International. Ninety nine per cent of those questioned in the Millennium Survey admitted that they belong to a religious denomination while 82% said they attend church service at least once a week.
The findings emerge in a survey of 50,000 people in 60 countries worldwide representing 1.25billion people.
In a follow up correspondence to the survey, Gallup has confirmed to GRi the breakdown of religion in Ghana as: Christians - 78%, Muslims - 19% and Others 3%. Of the Christians, 17% are Roman Catholics, 21% Protestants and 40% Other Christians.
